because we all need somewhere to belong

Intermittent Posting – Japan (pt 4)

KANAZAWA

was really, really something else.

We did not expect anything, really, just that it would be different enough, and quieter than, Kyoto.

It was snowing the day we arrived. 20 minutes from Toyama station and we were suddenly in a different prefecture, and a different kind of city altogether.

they add gold to almost everything here.
The 21st century Art Museum, Kanazawa. In short, amazing.

The initial plan to hit Kenrakuen Gardens was scrapped due to the incredibly snowy weather. So after a bit of meandering in the quiet Higashi Chaya district, we retreated to plan B – a bit of culture via the city art museum.

At this rate, it’s harder to find a Japanese city WITHOUT some sort of art museum/gallery. I think it’s the longest I’ve ever personally spent in an art gallery.

We returned to Toyama hoping to try for Kenrokuen again.
